Consumers Beware (Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-ray disc player)

samsung blu-ray player

Diary of a mad white woman: HA!
If you’re in the market for a blu-ray player do not buy the Samsung BD-P1590. It says on the box that it is wireless ready and Netlix instant streaming ready. This is not true! Ready to me means you bring it home, hook it up, and its ready. Not the case here. We purchased this particular model because we already subscribe to Netflix (which is awesome) and we wanted to put our netflix box in another room and put the blu-ray player (which said “netflix instant streaming ready”) in the living room. My husband hooked up the player and found that the wi-fi didnt work and netflix didnt work. Bobby knows computers and he knew something wasnt right. I called Samsung and was told to look on page 30 something in the manual. Low and behold there it was in tiny print, must buy Samsung wi-fi dongle for 80 more bucks before these features will work. Am I wrong? Shouldnt that bit of information been put on the box? But of course if it had been, we wouldnt have bought it. If ever there was a case of false advertising, this is it. The more I thought about it, the more it bothered me. TRUTH! Our society doesnt know and doesnt care about the truth. The truth was this Samsung blu-ray player was not wireless ready and was not ready to stream netflix. The truth is Samsung does not care about misleading its consumers. They do not care about pleasing their customers. And let me tell you how I know this. I decided to call Samsung back and talk to their executive customer relations department and told them everything from start to finish. I was told by Shenika that she was sorry and she would notify their marketing department. She said and I quote,”they should have that on the box”. I then preceded to tell her that Samsung ought to make the false advertising right by sending me one of those 80 dollar wi-fi dongles. You could of heard a pin drop. How dare me ask such a thing. She couldnt do that because that is a retail item you have to buy (they dont have them just lying around). But thats a lie, too. When they package the BD-P3600 Samsung Blu-ray disc player they include one in the box. I wonder where they get it? Do they have to go out and but it for 80 bucks? I dont think so. This is just a marketing LIE to get you to buy their blu-ray player. When in all reality its no better than the 100 dollar blu-ray player if you dont have their dongle.
So consumers BEWARE! Even if it says it in bold print on the box, it doesnt mean a thing. If you want a blu-ray player thats wireless ready and Netflix instant streaming ready, DON’T BUY A SAMSUNG BD-P1590 BLU-RAY DISC PLAYER.. This isnt the one you need or want.
F.Y.I. I normally dont do this, but where does all this deceit stop. When you purchase something, you should get what you paid for. If I buy a box that says it has a monkey in it, it should have a monkey in it. I shouldnt have to go buy an 80 dollar ticket to the zoo to see the monkey. I’ve bought the monkey already. That’s why I’ve decided to let my voice be heard. Will it make a difference, I dont know. But if just one person is now not decieved by Samsung, then it’s not been in vain.

Bobby & I were married 1 year ago today. Not much different than any other day, because we celebrate our love for each other “EVERYDAY“. We thank the Lord for each other and the love that grows deeper with every passing minute.

Day 5

Can’t believe this is our last day here. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I miss my family and my bed. On the other, it would be nice to be able to stay on vacation. We decided to spend our last day sight-seeing. We also found a few thrift stores to go in. I found a nice gray Alabama hoodie (Roll Tide Roll) and some antique blue bottles for my bottle tree. We had Pizza Hut for lunch and went to the outlets one last time. After we got back to the room, we watched a movie and walked back downtown. We went to bed early tonight because we wanted to get an early start for the trip home. Were on our way home now. Ahh…technology. Im blogging going 70 mph down interstate 40. Life is Good

Day 4

OH! MY ACHING BODY! We started the day walking, and I do mean walking. (over 4 miles) And if that wasn’t enough, we drove to Clingmans Dome and hiked a 1/2 mile straight up into the clouds. {The ol’ gray mare ain’t what she use to be! HA!}  But we made it to the top and the Lord blessed us with a glimpse of His creation before the clouds surrounded us and you couldn’t see a thing. It sure was alot easier going down than going up. We then headed back to hotel and walked down to Gatlinburg to do some shopping and eat. Later, with our bodies dragging, we went back to room and changed and retired to the hot tub. Another end to a beautiful day…

Day 3

We started this day off with a 4 mile walk. Doesn’t seem as boring when you’re walking through the mountains. When we got back, we ate breakfast and went for a swim in the heated pool. It felt so good. We planned next on hiking to Grotto Falls but the Lord had different plans in store for us. When we got there, all the places you park were full and since we’re in our van (which is loooooow to the ground) we couldnt park just anywhere. We headed on through Roaring Forks and found another place to park. We saw some beatiful cascades and hiked to them. From there on, we made our own trail to hike. lol. Our God is so amazing, He has giving us so many wonderful things to behold. Later we found another place we had never been before and Bobby got some great pics. We got back to the hotel around 5 and we layed down for a minute ( that minute turned into over an hour, we fell asleep). We got ready and walked downtown and then ate at Jose’s Cantina. We shared the mucho! mucho! nachos. They were the BEST! Then we headed back to the hotel for our nightly soak in the hot tub. One thing I can say is this vacation has been very relaxing. Most of the time we get back from vacation more tired than when we left. But this time, we just did what we wanted to do (no agendas, no plans). If we wanted to go to bed at 8, we did. We didnt worry about not getting something in. God has been so good to me. He has blessed me with a wonderful year and with such an amazing man to share it with. I end this day with this: count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what GOD has done.

We got up around 6 and had breakfast at the hotel. We then went for a 2 1/2 mile walk. There is something about the mountains, it’s beautiful. It looked like it was going to be a rainy day so we got ready and headed into Pigeon Forge. People let me tell you, we got a work out. We hiked from the Coleman Store to the Jockey Store; from the Jockey Store to the shoe store; from the shoe store to the…. Guess you get it. We got back around 6:30.
Thats about 8 hours of hiking. Needless to say, we’re pooped again. We agreed we werent hungry (we pigged out at Taco  Bell earlier) so we went to relax in the hot tub. Nothing better after a long day of hiking. Nite!

Day 1:
We left this morning on our way to Gatlenburg for our 1 year anniversary. We’ll be gone until Thursday. Thats 6 days and 5 nights of “RELAXATION”.  That’s if you consider hiking the trails, chasing waterfalls, and enjoying all of  God’s creation relaxing. (which we do). We got on the road around 8:00 am and stopped in Rogersville to eat some breakfast. It’s 11:45 now
and we’re about 90 miles from Knoxville. We stayed @ Zoder Inn in Gatlenburg on our honeymoon and we loved it so much, we said we were going back on our anniversary. I’m going to try and find the time to blog and upload photos of our trip while we’re gone. So check back often. We will miss our family, but we know they are in good hands. We will also miss our CrossRoads family, we’ll see you next Sunday. We love you all!

cell phone vs. BIBLE

*thought this was interesting

Copied from The Baptist Voice

What would happen if we treated our Bibles like we treat our cell phones? What if we carried them around in our purses or pockets? What if we flipped through them several times a day? What if we turned back to go get them if we forgot them? What if we used them to receive messages from the Text? What if we treated them like we couldn’t live without them? What if we gave them to our kids as gifts? What if we used them when we traveled? What if we used them in case of emergency? Makes you stop and think, “Where are my priorities?”
